In Loving Memory of
Robert Lee Kennedy
Beloved Husband, Son, Brother, Father, and Friend

Our Dear Robert

Robert L. Kennedy, beloved husband, father, brother and friend, unexpectedly passed away on August 29, 2013 at his home in Scottsdale, Arizona.  He was 41 years old.

Robert was born on January 21, 1972 in Boise Idaho to Gordon L. Kennedy and Cheryl A. Rasband.  He married Sheri L. Gunlock on December 30, 1999 in a ceremony in Lake Tahoe, Nevada.  Together they brought into the world four beautiful children.

Robert is survived by his wife Sheri, his four children; Aubrey, Jordan, Dalan, and Madison; his parents Gordon (ShirLene) Kennedy and Cheryl (Clyde) Rasband, and his four siblings; William (Julie) Kennedy, Paul (Emily) Craven; Taylor J. (Jessica) Kennedy and Cerra (Dillon) Hawkins; his in-laws Daren (Debbie) Gunlock; not to mention his countless other relatives and friends.  He is preceded in death by his grandparents Alonzo and Alta Kennedy and Joseph and Vera Dike, his uncles Blair Kennedy and Craig Taylor and his aunt Carol Beavers.

Rob lived life to the fullest.  He had a big heart and an even bigger personality.  To know Rob was to love him.  To Rob, family and friends meant everything.  There was nothing that he wouldn’t do for them.

Rob grew up in Meridian Idaho and graduated from Meridian High School where he was an All-State basketball player.  After high school he moved to Utah and graduated from the University of Utah.  He loved all things Utes. He was a football season ticket holder until he moved to Arizona for work, but even then would make sure that he stayed fully connected and still attended any game he could.  Rob was very successful in the banking industry, specializing in commercial real estate.

He held several executive positions and his job ultimately took him to Arizona.  Rob had a passion for golf.  One of his favorite times of the year was the annual golfing trip that he shared with many of his family and friends.

A viewing was held at Cannon Mortuary, 2460 E. Bengal Blvd. (7600 South) on Thursday, September 5 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  A graveside service for family and invited friends was held Friday morning.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to any Mountain America or America First Credit Union locations to the Robert Kennedy Memorial Fund for the benefit of his children.

My condelences to the entire Kennedy family on Rob's sudden passing. I would like to especially give a hug to Dalen from his buddy Hudson at Copper Canyon. He didn't get to say bye to his friend, but he is so very sad for a greater reason. We went through the same hardship as you with my husband passing away when the kids were 2 & 5 -- it's not easy but your friends and family will help. Please know if there is ANYTHING we can do, give us a shout. Peace be with you, The Muller Family

Hi Cheryl,

I was so sad to hear about your son's passing. I can't even imagine what you are going through right now. I wish there was something I could do. If there is, I'd love to help out. You are such a good friend to me, having served with you in Primary. It makes me so sad to hear about this. Please know I am thinking about you and your family at this time.

Love, Julie

He had an infectious laugh and enthusiasm for life, friends, and family, and he will be sorely missed. My sincere condolences to you and your family during this difficult time.

I am so sorry to learn of Rob's sudden and untimely death today. I work with Rob at Irwin Union Bank for only a couple of years. During that time I found Rob to be a wonderful person to get to know, he had a great since of humor and was well liked by all the staff. Rob worked hard and wanted to learn more so he could move up the ladder. I know that I can speak for all the employees at Irwin that Rob will be missed by all of us. Your family will be in are prayers as you go through these difficult times ahead of you.

Sincerely,

Robbie, how we will miss your sarcastic sense of humor, our discussions that went for ever!!! All the laughter and fun times we shared. We will miss what was to come. We love you and will be there for Sheri and your children to help support them as hopefully in the way you would want us to. We will see you someday. But in the mean time. We will carry on with our journey on earth as you experience your journey in heaven with your loved ones that have gone before you. Love you. Mama Debbie & Daren and the "gang"

Gordon, ShirLene & Family,

I am so sorry for your loss. Rob is a delightful man and has made an impact on many lives. I remember him as a young teenager and watched him grow and mature to a caring husband & father. I know how proud you are of him in so many ways, a great athlete, an intelligent hard worker and just lots of fun. He always brightened the day for you when he dropped in to visit at the office. What a sad day to hear about this amazing person passing away. He will surely be missed. I worked with him when he first started out in the banking business at the West Valley MACU. What fun memories I have of him. Talk about dedication, I remember he broke his right wrist over the weekend and still came to work Monday, so it doesn't surprise me at all to hear how successful he became. Thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family especially his wife and kids.

This year would have been the 16th annual tournament for Rob. Only a few others from our group have been on every trip. Rob was the one I looked forward to seeing the most because of his wicked humor and contagious laugh. We always played at least one round together and conversations would cover everything from the serious and sarcastic, to the sacrilegious and downright silly. Beyond golf, my memories of Rob include years of Saturday morning basketball, football fantasy strategies before online fantasy leagues existed, discussions of finance and banking, employment decisions, marriage and family, and the achievement of the all American dream, in which he loved and reveled. It was a privilege to know Rob and call him a friend. He will be missed and our prayers go out to his family.
